• Norman Music Fest Releases Their Own Earthquake

    / Comments (0)

Earlier today, Norman Music Festival released what appears to be their newest logo for the festival on their facebook, which is 'shaking' up the design community. If you remember, last year's design caused a bit of a fuss in the community as well. This year, they're taking it a bit further and a couple disgruntled fans are reaching out for other people to submit their own designs to "terminate the prairie dog." Definately think the work could be improved upon and doesn't reflect the music scene or the festival, but we don't condone crowd sourcing as a viable solution. 'Contact a graphic designer,' it might surprise you what could happen....

Yesterday, Flaming Lips released their 24 hour long song for stream. If you just have an extra $5k laying, you can be the lucky winner of a USB song skull. Quite over the top and not really sure what the appeal of a 24 hour long song is.....It's like a poor man's Damien Hirst. Click the image to go to the song page.

JESS3 has been around OKC for some years now and have even managed accounts in the likes of Nike and Google. They've done some great work dealing with UI/UX, data visualization and animation. More recently known for their work on ESPN ratings and "The Zen of Steve Jobs" graphic novel (see below). Word on the street is they're looking to expand their base here in OKC, so if you think you have what it takes, show them what you got.

The JESS3 team and OKCEgo might be teaming up to bring you some Happy Hour too. Be on the lookout.

  • Want to have a say in the redesign of OKC.gov?

    / Comments (0)

Got word of this through Tommy Yi's twitter earlier today (Yes, we do check that):

"The City of Oklahoma City wants the community’s help in redesigning okc.gov. With your participation, we can find ways to better deliver online City services to residents and businesses. From design to data, tell us what you want out of your City’s website."

We'd be curious on what bright ideas we have around here and if they'll actually implement them. Anyone have any great ideas? Well, come out on the 18th.

Yeah, we kinda have a soft spot for road trips and a cappella covers. Of course, Ozzy Osbourne's "Crazy Train" has a way of taking things to another level...

  • Shameful: Obama Supports Job Creation by Launching a Spec Design Competition

    Forwarded on from Denver:

'It's okay for designers to do free work — as long as it's going toward the noble cause of helping get jobs for other people. Honestly, when did the world start thinking of us as whores? And what the hell are we going to do to shift the tide on this? People simply do not respect our profession — including the current leader of our country.
